Back into the swing

I don't know where the time goes these days. A couple of days ago I made Chex Mix, which you have to stir every 15 minutes. So I had an alarm telling me that 15 minutes had passed each time. And each time I was shocked at how quickly it had gone by. Yes, I was getting things done, but not tons of things.

I think I am going to do that some more today. Just set the alarm and work until it goes off to keep myself focused. I truly must get this desk back to cleared off. I feel sorry for Wilburt every time he jumps up here and can't find a place to put his foot down, much less his big butt.

Tonight Mark and I are going to see George Strait. My friend is so sweet to have given us tickets. I've never known anyone to do that before. He wants me to see him play. I know it will be a good show. Now I want to do something for him, he always is doing things for me! He took me tubing, he took me to Wurstfest, and now George Strait!

I did get the new Mac computer and I've been working to figure it out, but I keep defaulting to this one because it is here. I did publish a website with the Mac, just to see how that worked, and that was really easy. I need to figure out just "documents" and writing a letter and such. And I guess I need to see if my printer will work with it . . . or do I need a printer in this paperless world?

One project that I'm sure would go easily on my Mac is the video I'm putting together for my mother's 80th birthday. But since all the photos were already on this computer, I used it last night and used MS Photo Story to put it together. I will have lots more pictures (I hope) and need different music, I think, but just for fun I put it together a little and it made me cry! It turned out pretty good. It has just about all the features you would want. And it is easy.

Last night I went to dinner with two old CC friends. One was fired two years ago, the other, my computer guru, quit a few months back. We enjoyed badmouthing those folks and remembering who else has lost their jobs there. It is a growing number. They fired the PD of the sports station yesterday and a salesman gave notice and they escorted him to the door.

I worked on my web design class yesterday. I'm a little disappointed it doesn't go any further than it does. I may think it is harder once I really am putting together the required project without the help of a WYSIWYG editor, but this class is pretty basic. I learned a thing or two I didn't know, but not much. Once I get through it, I'm going to try to find another class online (free) to learn the next step on my own if I can. Then, if I can't, I will take the next step and pay a couple hundred more, I guess.

I also worked on MM's myspace a lot. I have her up to almost 200 friends and I need more more MORE. I think it is easier when it is your own space and not someone else's, but I'm getting it done, I guess. She had five hundred or so before, but some of those I can't re-friend because they have restrictions (I guess they had asked her before). Anyway, I'll spend a little more time on that today. She called yesterday on her trip in Florida to tell me about next week's music series.

Mark bought some drums yesterday that he can rent during SXSW. I appreciate him working these deals and finding other ways to make money. This way will only pay for the drums right now, probably, but will gain extra money in the future.

I did manage to do a little housecleaning yesterday (just out of shame!). I did a load of laundry and cleaned both bathrooms pretty good. Today I'll do a little more laundry and clean off this desk and get a check sent off for our health insurance. I must get out and mail letters, too. I want to go downtown to the history center, but I don't know if I can make myself do that just yet. So many other things that must be done. But today, this desk, FOR SURE, will get cleaned off (I know I'm going to come back some day and read this and laugh!).
