Home from Dallas

My entries are getting too few and far between! Been to Dallas for the weekend and I'm bushed. Quick drive up Friday and back today (Sunday) with visits to two sets of folks there and two nights at the club watching the band.

Hard fast week at work. Worked extra to be able to be off on the holiday then worked ahead so I get out of town at a reasonable hour on Friday. Then what happens, the boss says, oh, you're ahead, how about doing this extra work for me? It did only take an hour but it put be behind on getting to Dallas. Finally got there at 11:30.

Visited the inlaws. That isn't a usual part of our routine but they had just been to Turkey and had brought Mark a cymbal back that he was quite anxious to see. Istanbul is where all the best cymbals are made or the companies began. They brought his a great little cymbal but they almost ruin the gift. They emphasize how expensive it had been (all f $56) and that Mark can either pay them for it or it can be his birthday and Christmas. Cheap cheap cheap! They travel the world regularly and are quite wealthy, which is great and I'm glad they enjoy it but why even bother with a nice absolutely perfect gift if you're going to make it sound like it was such a sacrifice?

My friend B! called from around the world yesterday. She used to live in Hawaii and now she is traveling and living in Bali, Fiji and soon New Zealand. She's just taking it as it comes and enjoying herself. What a life! I'm very proud of her for being so brave.

I've decided the death penalty should be extended to people who drive in the left lane of an interstate freeway when they are not passing someone. Cars stacking up behind them, cars veering around them and then having to cut back into the left lane to get around the next car in the right lane which is invariably going one mile an hour less than the car in the left lane and there is a gap of only ten feet between the two. We drove home very quickly this afternoon and would have been home much more quickly if the idiots hadn't been Gomering along in the left lane.
